Growing up on a farm in Kansas gave me a love for the outdoors and a strong work ethic. My mother’s death when I was five, being hyper-active and struggling during my early years in school significantly impacted my life and contributed to a childhood that was challenging.
Ultimately the dysfunction of my past caught up with me and God in His graciousness brought people into my life that helped me overcome the emotional struggles that for years had held me back and brought significant pain. This growth allowed me change habits that were far from helpful and to establish a relationship with God that is both intimate and life-giving.
In everything God has a purpose and these experiences, along with others, developed within me an empathy and understanding for those who are also overcoming the hardships of life. After graduating from Seminary in 1982 Joy and I served a church in Alberta for 30 years and before coming to Minot we served at Grace Community Church in Tempe, AZ. Joy and I were married in 1979 and our two boys are married, one living in Alberta the other living here in North Dakota. We have three wonderful grandchildren.
Reading, being outdoors and interacting with others are activities that I enjoy.
