Senior Pastor Annual Report - 2018

In 2018, we focused on three spiritual growth initiatives needed to build a strong life in Christ. We focused on building strength through: 1) the exercise of prayer, 2) devotion to Scripture and 3) commitment to community.

How did we do at embracing these focuses throughout the year? (How did you do individually?)  Corporately, we prayed together in many contexts throughout the year. We also hosted a good number of ministerial prayer gatherings at FBC. We saw continuing devotion to Scripture through our Sunday School program, AWANA, Men’s and Women’s studies and the birth of many new Men’s and Women’s small groups. Our commitment to community is evident in the visible reality of peace within the church. A long-standing unity is critical to a long-term productive ministry. May we continue to embrace prayer, devotion to Scripture and a commitment to community in days to come!

In 2017, our average worship attendance was 452. This grew to 466 in 2018. Sunday School was strong throughout the year with attendance seeing only a minor drop (229 in 2017 to 221 in 2018). We added 32 new members and lost three members through death. We recorded a total of 36 decisions for Christ and 12 baptisms! In 2018, we welcomed Josh Huseby back to the pastoral team of FBC. This filled a long-term staff vacancy and has provided us with a strong staff team of servant leaders.

Our partnership with international, regional and local missions remained strong throughout 2018. We received a total of seven “in-person” presentations! Contributions to the local Dakota Hope Clinic Baby Bottle Campaign totaled $5,203. To those who gave, thank you!

As this church enters its 131st year, may we be faithful to everything our Lord calls us! May we live with urgency and faithfulness to our mission of “Win, Build and Send.” Practically, we accomplish this with sacrificial contributions of our time, treasure, talent and testimony. The results will be amazing and we will “live lives worthy of God, who calls you into His kingdom and glory” (1 Thessalonians 2:12).
